Had I gone solely by my google search I would have likely given up thinking some Windows update killed USB compatibility (as they have been known to do). Cheers!Įdit: For the sake of clarity, I know this fix was pretty simple on the face of it and might seem common sense for many, but it's a PSA on how simple hardware failures can mimic OS issues and drivers. But the Sidewinder Precision 2 is a sure bet to work good (I have one - for 10 yrs - it works like new.) Chuck B. Also not sure if other models (Pro, etc) will work as intended. Click on properties to test and you can calibrate and enjoy WW2 fighters once.
Spent too much time looking for software,but answer is.GO to start, SETTINGS ,type CONTROLLERS, box will open, Set up usb controllers,open, If you do not see it unplug and plug in and it should show up.

I don't know if the Force Feedback will work in FS2020. Install old sidewinder precision pro joystick on windows 10. Just thought I'd let you folks know in case any of you have similar issues. All Microsoft Sidewinders are USB and thus 'plug-n-play' and require no drivers. Now I'm able to play Falcon and LHX the way it was meant to be played. I cheered and raised my hands in victory I was so happy that I was able to fix it with such a simple solution (no pun intended). Voi-fucking-La! It worked when I plugged it in.

Recommendations suggesting clearing out devices in registry abound but nothing worked for me. I tried plugging it into different USB ports nothing.Ī Google search brings up multiple hits about Sidewinder joysticks suddenly "dying" on Win7 and above. Then when I decided to fire up games like LHX or Falcon I noticed it wasn't working which then made me bring up device / gamepad control panel and noticed it wasn't even being detected. In fact it's been connected to a USB port in the back thinking nothing of it. I recently wanted to dabble again with some old school sims in DosBox and I've had my trusty Microsoft Sidewinder Precision 2 joystick on my desk for months (it doubles as a handy headset holder for my Logitech headset) but never used it. I'm not sure where to post this since I only ever use my Precision 2 for old school gaming like DOS simulators (Falcon 3.0 and LHX ftw), so I figure I'd post it here.
